Art grew up skating the lakes and rivers of the Midwest and has been free heel skiing for over 50 years. In 1973 Art moved to Yosemite and never left where he taught for Yosemite Institute, UC Santa Cruz, was a winter guide for Yosemite Mountaineering School and a 2 term Mariposa County Supervisor. He served 12 years as the attorney member and chair of the California Water Resources Control Board for Governors Davis and Schwarzenegger. His passion is skiing the High Sierra including the Muir Trail in 1975 and the Bartholomew route in 1999 and 2006.
